A plea agreement occurs when a prosecutor and a defense attorney reach a mutually agreeable disposition of the charges against the Defendant. In Federal Court, this occurs when the AUSA and the Federal Criminal Defense Attorney have assessed the circumstances of the case and the charges at issue and are able to negotiate an agreement.
